2025 Year End Summary

Hi everyone,

The 2025 season kept us hopping! Despite a slow start weather wise, business at the club was excellent through the summer and into the fall (you may have noticed). Our membership numbers grew to their highest in recent memory:  60 juniors, 14 intermediates (19-25 years), 69 regular and 32 seniors–175 in total! In addition to the membership growth we welcomed many new faces this season from local communities as well as out of town visitors. Our ongoing growth in recent years in junior and intermediate memberships is particularly exciting and bodes well for the Club’s future.

Tara Roden partnered with us to offer women’s, junior and introductory golf clinics as well as individual lessons. We look forward to having Tara back next season and expanding these learning opportunities.

With increased memberships and visitors to the club, our revenues were up, which allowed us to continue to invest $ back into the course and facilities. The most notable (and expensive) projects in 2025 were the replacement of three power poles near the clubhouse (cost $35,000) and the renovation project on #8 fairway ($20,000 spent to date). Other capital expenditures included adding a near new Yamaha golf cart to our rental fleet, as well as an upgrade to the computer in the pro shop. We also recently came to verbal agreement with the Gabriola Island Golf Club to purchase two additional Club Cars for our rental fleet. We will be changing out some windows, replacing the hot water tanks and doing some painting and other updates in the clubhouse during the off season.

Course conditions were excellent through the season; a shout out to Larry and Garry for all they do and our dedicated pool of volunteers that pitch in when needed.

2025 saw strong and consistent turn out for Wednesday Club Nights as well as the successful introduction of an Intermediate league and Sunday League. The Logger’s tournament was back, big as ever, and we hosted 3 other private tournaments (KEDC, PH Public Works and Filomi Days). Our recent Night Golf event was a big success so we’ll be planning another one in the spring. We crowned three Club Champions for the first time in a long time:  Xue Mei Su–Ladies, Linden Tomasi—Junior and Larry Walker—Men. Congratulations all! And we say the return of the Iron Man event….fittingly in the middle of a hurricane.

In addition to golf events we hosted two high school grad events as well as a variety of meetings and functions in the meeting room/restaurant area. Peggy had a busy, but excellent season and was able to find a great team of staff to support restaurant operations. It is so great to see our clubhouse being utilized this way. We will continue to promote the club as a great venue to gather and celebrate. We already have a new tournament and wedding booked for 2026.

The work season has now concluded for Larry and Garry and the course has been set up for winter play. Elaine finished her work season in early November. Dave and I are keeping the shop open Wednesday-Sundays 10-3 through the month of November.

The Golf Shop will be open Friday-Sundays 11-3 for the first 3 weekends of December just in case you want to do some Christmas shopping. We will be holding a Christmas sale again this year with discounts on many items as well as gift certificates and punch cards for 2026. New for 2026 we will be offering a power cart rental punch card (10 rentals for the price of 9) in addition to similar offers for 9 or 18 hole rounds and range use.

The Golf Shop will be closed as of December 21st until March of next year. When the shop is closed, the drop honour box is in use and Dave/Elaine are available to open up if you need something—just knock on the trailer door.

2026 Membership Renewals

The Board recently approved the new membership and golf fee rates for 2026; the 2026 form is attached and will also be posted on our website. Hard copies of the form will be available on the ledge outside the Golf Shop.

Membership fee discounts are available if you pay your 2026 membership fees, in full, before January 31, 2026. Payment options are described on the second page of the form.

The 2026 rates include a small increase (approximately 2%) across most fee categories in an effort to keep our revenues in line with growing operating expenses. Beginning in the spring we will also be making small increases in our walk up greens fees and power cart rental charges.

NOTE: Members qualifying for Returning Seniors rates will receive their 2026 renewal forms via separate email or can pick one up in the Golf Shop.

Thanks to all of you who contributed to a successful year at the club, either as a member/customer, volunteer (or both). We couldn’t have done it without you!

All the best over the upcoming holiday season.  We hope to see you at the Club in the New Year.

Don’t hesitate to reach out by phone or email if you need any assistance along the way.
